The creative process is just that. A process. Each artist approaches their craft differently and you learn over the years what works best for you and your medium.
For me, it begins with an idea. These "ideas" usually arrive just before falling asleep, in the shower (no joke), or while driving to pick up my kids from school. From there, the idea goes into my sketch book. Often I will take a theme and draw as many variations as possible until there is clearly a dominant idea and something worth prototyping.
The next step is to make a sample using a variety of materialsincluding sterling and fine silver. The piece is refined by addingtexture, engraving and detail. The stones used are predominantly sapphires, which naturally occur in a rainbow of colors. A variety offinishing techniques including mirror finishing, sandblasting, andpatina, are employed to create the exact treatment desired for eachpiece.

The journey of each piece is unique. Because these pieces are madeby hand they will have an old world feel which distinguishes JJ Singhjewelry from much of the commercially manufactured lines of today. This imperfect look is intentional and is meant to remind wearers of the individuality of their jewelry and themselves.
Peace.
